Medical rhinoplasty – basic principles and clinical practice (3rd edition)

This third edition, masterfully rewritten under the direction of Alessio Redaelli and Frédéric Braccini, is without doubt a remarkable medical literary performance. All the paths of the face lead to the nose, this visual crossroads, so small, so big, so short, so long, so thin, so wide… is the object of every attention.

The number of cosmetic procedures performed worldwide is constantly increasing in both surgical and non-surgical aesthetic surgery. According to the annual statistical report published by the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS, statistics 2020), medical rhinoplasty was ranked among the five most frequently performed aesthetic surgical procedures in 2020. In addition, medical rhinoplasty is the only TOP 5 procedure that has maintained its steady growth and an increase in numbers since 2014. This increase in procedures performed worldwide not only reflects the high demand, but also reflects the increased knowledge and skills of the rhinoplasty community. The emergence of soft tissue fillers and their potential for a minimally invasive nasal aesthetic procedure has substantially opened up accessibility for “rinomodulation”, “profiloplasty”, “nasal sculpture” or “liquid rhinoplasty”. Despite the significantly smaller aesthetic range of non-surgical rhinoplasty procedures, the knowledge and skills required are substantial and should not be underestimated. Concepts of beauty, three-dimensional anatomy and age-related changes must be taken into account when aiming for superior and lasting aesthetic results.
The doctors Redaelli and Braccini have summarized and expanded the current knowledge in this field in the third edition of their excellent work: Medical Rhinoplasty. Reading page after page will open the doors to a new and unknown aspect of surgical and non-surgical aesthetic nasal treatments. Up-to-date anatomical knowledge, clinical “pearls” and guided presentations of each case are described in this book. I congratulate the authors on their success, but I also congratulate the public for the learning experience that awaits each of them on every page that follows.

“The monument, will you be able to visit?”
Cyrano de Bergerac by Edmond Rostand
This third edition, masterfully rewritten under the direction of Alessio Redaelli and Frédéric Braccini, is undoubtedly a remarkable medical literary performance. All the paths of the face lead to the nose, this visual crossroads, so small, so big, so short, so long, so thin, so wide… is the object of every attention. This book on medical rhinoplasty brings the reader to a discovery or rather a rediscovery of the subject, thanks to all the authors and collaborators who have made the reading fascinating with the news and the indications to improve it and respect it.
