Medical Rhinoplasty – Principles and Clinical Practice (3rd Edition)

This third edition, masterfully rewritten under the direction of Alessio Redaelli and Frédéric Braccini, is undoubtedly a remarkable medical literary achievement. All facial pathways lead to the nose, this visual crossroads, so small, so large, so short, so long, so thin, so wide… is the object of every attention.

The number of cosmetic procedures performed worldwide is steadily increasing in both the surgical and non-surgical aesthetic fields. According to the annual statistical report published by the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS, 2020 statistics), medical rhinoplasty was ranked among the five most frequently performed cosmetic surgical procedures in 2020. Furthermore, medical rhinoplasty is the only procedure in the TOP 5 that has maintained its steady growth and increased numbers since 2014. This increase in procedures performed worldwide not only reflects the high demand but also reflects the growing knowledge and expertise of the rhinoplasty community. The emergence of soft tissue fillers and their potential for minimally invasive nasal aesthetic procedures has substantially opened up the accessibility of “rhinomodulation,”
“Profiloplasty,” “nasal sculpting,” or “liquid rhinoplasty.” Despite the significantly smaller aesthetic range of nonsurgical rhinoplasty procedures, the knowledge and skills required are substantial and should not be underestimated. The concepts of beauty, three-dimensional anatomy, and age-related changes must be taken into account when aiming for superior and long-lasting aesthetic results.
Drs. Redaelli and Braccini have summarized and expanded current knowledge in this field in the third edition of their excellent work, Rinoplastica Medica. As you read page after page, you’ll discover a new and unknown aspect of surgical and nonsurgical aesthetic nasal treatments. Up-to-date anatomical knowledge, clinical gems, and guided presentations of each individual case are comprehensively described in this book. I congratulate the authors on their achievement, but I also congratulate the audience for the learning experience that awaits each of them on every page that follows.
